The Albanian Plant Protection Institute has carried out a nationwide survey Of Western Corn Rootworm (WCR) in Albania since 1999.

1. Scout Trapping:
On 18 locations Hungarian pheromone traps (Csalomon R) were placed in corn fields. In the non infested area of 7 counties (Shokodra, Bushat, Rinas International Airport, Elbasan, Peshkopi, Durres, Sarande and Lushnja) the traps were monitored from 15 June until the end of September at intervals of 7 days. The traps were changed every month.

2. In the same counties were placed Multigard yellow sticky traps. The distance between Csalomon and Multigard traps was 50 m. In corn fields the traps were monitored 15 of June the end of September. All traps were changed at intervals of 30 days.

In all locations were the pheromone and Multigard yellow sticky traps were placed, no Diabrotica were found.

We found a specimens near the International Rinas Airport very similar to WCR. After identification Diabrotica virgifera virgifera Le Conte was not confirmed.
