During two years, 1998 and 2000, effectiveness of 8 insecticides currently registered in Yugoslavia for seed treatment against soil pests of corn was tested. Higher application rates of all insecticides were used. Trials were arranged in a randomized block design in 4 replicate (50m2).

Results from both years showed that 2 insecticides reduced rootworm damage below threshold level of 3, measured with Iowa 1- 6 scale. Mean root damage scores on treatment with Force 20 CS (0.6 l/100 kg of seeds) were in 2 trials/years 2.8 and 2.7; on treatment with Gaucho 70 WS (0.7 kg/100 kg of seeds) were 2.95 and 2.8. On the untreated corn mean root damage was 3.6 in 1998 and 4.4 in 2000. Further evaluation is needed for final conclusion.
