In Turkey, especially last two decade, corn glowing areas were increased. Corn is widely growing in Blacksea, Mediterranean, Aegean and Marmara Region. In result of different researches, Turcicum, Maydis and Curvularia leaf blights, Carbonum leaf spot, rust, smut, stalk and root rot diseases caused by Fusarium spp., Cephlosporium maydis and Rhizocionia solani, kernel and ear rot caused by different fungi and maize dwarf mosaic virus were determined in Turkey. In addition to these, Pythium stalk rot was important in 1998 in Adana province.

As a result of the surveys performed in 1994, 1995 and 1996 in order to determine the Turcicum and Maydis leaf blights on corn plants in Çukurova region, it was found that Maydis leaf blight was more important than Turcicum leaf blight and these two diseases were important in second crops. In first crops, the incidence of Turcicum leaf blight was % 0.67 in 1994, % 0.64 in 1995, and % 0 in 1996 and the incidence of Maydis leaf blight was % 5.73, % 13.47 and % 3.40, respectively. The disease severity % 0.07, % 0.07 and % 0 for Turcicum leaf blight, % 0.65, % 2.63 and % 0.46 for Maydis leaf blight, respectively. In second crops, the incidence of Turcicum leaf blight was % 25.62 in 1994, % 3.72 in 1995 and % 2.87 in1996 and the incidence of Maydis leaf blight was % 30.00, % 13.24 and % 51.77, respectively. The disease severity was % 8.23, % 0.78 and 0.39 for Turcicum leaf blight and % 7.66, % 2.44 and % 14.11 for Maydis leaf blight, respectively
